The main article in the Ithacan this week was about Evan Nison, vice president of the chapter, who is working this semester in California in support of Proposition 19 in California, which would legalize marijuana in the state.
Evan is also president of the college's chapter of Students for a Sensible Drug Policy. Congratulations on this recent recognition for his hard work.

Save the date! Vince Grim and Grand Alpha Doug Opicka will be visiting Ithaca September 17-19 to host a regional Key Session!
Tentatively, we will kick off the weekend with an Alumni/Undergraduate social event Friday night at the Buffalo Wild Wings in Ithaca, NY. Following Friday’s event, we will then begin the actual Key Sessions Saturday, ending Sunday afternoon. Highlights for the weekend will include:
· Understanding Organizations: The Lodestar model – Values, Vision and Operations
· Chapter Planning Retreat: By attending this session, gain the tools to host a proper Chapter planning retreat! (and potentially earn your Chapter a $750 rebate on insurance!)
· Budgeting: Set up a budget for your Chapter for the year
· Recruitment: Providing you and your Chapter tools to be successful in getting members to join
· Secrets and Symbols: Learn about our Ritual and what it means to be a Phi Kap
Any brother in attendance who needs a place to sleep for the weekend will be provided for. For more information, please contact me:

Phi Kaps Win Coveted "Golden Doorknob"
On April 17th 2010, a film made by several brothers from the chapter received the $2,000 first place prize at the "Skip Landen Golden Doorknob Awards", an annual film festival held in the Park School of Communications at Ithaca College.
The essential criteria for submission are - films must be 5 minutes long, have a beginning middle and end, and must feature someone being killed by a doorknob.
The event is held every year in Park's auditorium, and was, of course, standing room only.
[Pictured: The film's producers with IC alumn Dan Heffner, producer of the Saw franchise.]
Brothers involved in production:
- Mike Reyes '13 (Producer/Gaffer)
- Sam Patton '12 (Writer/Producer)
- Chris Fatta '13 (Sound Department)
- Matt Szondy '10 (Actor - The Doctor)
- Matt Feminella '13 (Actor - Guy In Bathroom)
The film went from script to submission in 16 days thanks to the hardwork and dedication of everyone involved.
This follows on last year's winner, which was directed by brother Kyle Begley '11.
